Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

When we took up camping with a Motorhome in 1990, we changed from using a motel in Myrtle Beach, to the Pirate Land Campground. These photos show our first Motorhome, An '89 Starchase model.

In those days, the campground had lots of spaces after the first week in September. We usually went for a lot that was just behind the dune and right next to the ocean.

We like Pirate Land because each lot that near the water, has a shelter. Full hookups are available and thus we are very comfortable.
For us, the big attraction is the ocean and the beautiful beach.
A year after the big hurricane, there was still a lot of damage to ocean front cottages. The cottages are built up on poles to get away from the heat of the ground and provide a nicer view of the ocean.

In this photo, you can see the distruction to the wall caused by the waves.
